PROJECTS

ACID ROCK DRAINAGE & METAL LEACHING PREDICTION

Pueblo Viejo Mine, Barrick, Dominican Republic
Marlin Mine, Goldcorp., Guatemala
Penasquito Mine, Goldcorp, Mexico

Lead geochemist responsible for geochemistry field programs at three gold mines involving laboratory-scale testing and field-scale testing (barrel and instrumented larger-scale test piles) to assess the capability of co-disposed thickened tailings / waste rock to suppress ARD as part of feasibility testing of a novel approach to managing mine wastes.

Back Forty Project, Michigan, Aquila Resources, Michigan, USA

Input into a water quality model to predict site effluent quality during operations as part of PFS / FS studies for the polymetallic mining project located at a sensitive site adjacent to river habitat. Development of an ARD/ML assessment program to collect additional data to allow refinement of the water quality model. Design and implementation of a low-level mercury monitoring program to assess mercury concentrations in rainwater at the site.

Victoria Nickel-Copper Project, KGHM / FNX Mining, Sudbury, N. Ontario, Canada

Design and implementation of acid rock drainage / metal leaching assessment and waste rock management plan for the proposed underground mining project.

Mary River Project, Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation
Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada

Lead geochemist on the  $5 billion Mary River iron ore project located on Baffin Island with responsibility for carrying out an acid rock drainage / metal leaching assessment.

WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENTS

Bending Lake Iron Ore Project, Ambershaw Metallics Inc., Ignace, Ontario

Responsible for the design and management of a baseline surface water monitoring program in support of advanced exploration activities. The complexity of the program was heightened due to the numerous lakes and rivers located in proximity to the project. The project site is located in an ecologically sensitive area close to Turtle River Provincial Park.

PASSIVE MINE WATER TREATMENT

wheal jane.jpeg
Wheal Jane MInewater Project, Truro, UK

Responsible for the management and monitoring of a large-scale pilot passive treatment system designed to remediate acid mine drainage emanating from an abandoned tin mine. The treatment system utilised a number of treatment stages involving pH adjustment (lime dosing and anoxic limestone drains), aerobic treatment (constructed wetlands) and anaerobic treatment (sawdust and cattle manure enclosed cells).
